Here is Carrefour, a department store that was built by the French. This picture is taken from the upper parking deck. It is much like our Walmart, but not at all the same quality. Hard to believe, huh?
Inside Carrefour. While driving in Cairo, horn honking is a way of life. Get in their way they honk their horn. They push carts like they drive, so glad they do not have horns on the carts.
Waiting in line to check out.
Carrefour has many stores built in front of them all under one roof. Wish we would have been the ones who brought over the American Branded stores.
Headed home on the Ring Road.
Tomatoes on the way to market.
We are going to New Cairo.
This is our exit, New Cairo Fifth Settlement
This is Kattemeya Heights. Gated Community, rent runs $5000 and up per month, because it is gated and safer I assume. We live about a block from here. Not safer, Dave's car got broken into last year!
New Cairo Streets, where we live. We have always lived in Maadi before, where the American school is, and where most expats live. To find an affordable place to live and since we have no one in school, we came to New Cairo. We are about 15 miles from Maadi.
New Cairo mall. Metro market is in this mall.
Mobil Gas station sign, sorry didn't rotate it before posting!!!
Another mall area with Seoudi Market. Often come here for something quick.
Hardees and KFC with this mall area.
I am really enjoying seeing what you see when you are out and about! Hugs, Sandy
